Dive into the centuries-old history of our beloved Mill, an unwavering witness to the passage of time and the twists of history. Its roots date back to the Middle Ages, built in 1608 by the Bishopric of Strasbourg. Destroyed during the ravages of the Thirty Years’ War in 1622, it proudly rose again in 1629, already established on a vast 2-hectare property, teeming with life with its hemp press, pastures, and gardens.

In 1854, Sébastien Clauss, captivated by this enchanting place, decided to rent it, then restore it after the fire of 1868, thus breathing new life into the Mill’s hydraulic power with the creation of a sawmill. The opening of an inn by his wife in 1874 marked a decisive turning point, bringing a warm touch of hospitality to this place steeped in history.

From generation to generation, the Clauss family continued to watch over this gem, from Charles to Alfred, perpetuating a family tradition where hospitality and dedication are at the heart of every action. Despite the hardships of history, the Mill always rises from its ashes, bearing witness to the resilience and determination of those attached to it.

In 1981, Béatrice and Andrée Clauss, daughters of Charles, gave this place a new purpose, transforming inactivity into a haven of peace, a hotel with undeniable charm.

Since 2018, Carole and Régis Anthouard have taken over the reins of the hotel, becoming the guardians of its precious heritage. With overflowing passion and unwavering dedication, they work every day to breathe new life into our dear Mill.

Together, they restore all its splendor to this historic residence, renovating every corner with care and attention to detail. From restoring the buildings to creating new spaces, such as the Spa inaugurated in the summer of 2021, Carole and Régis put everything into offering our precious guests unforgettable experiences during every stay. As true enthusiasts, they embody the family spirit and tradition of hospitality that make our Mill renowned.
