Immerse yourself in the centuries-old history of our dear Mill, an immutable witness to the passage of time and the twists and turns of history. Its roots go back to the Middle Ages, built in 1608 by the Bishopric of Strasbourg. Destroyed during the ravages of the Thirty Years' War in 1622, he stands up proudly 1629 already set on a vast 2 hectare property, teeming with life with its hemp crusher, pastures and gardens.
En 1854, Sébastien Clauss, seduced by this enchanting place, decided to rent it, then restore it after the fire of 1868, thus breathing new life into the hydraulic power of the Mill with the creation of a sawmill. The opening of an inn by his wife in 1874 marks a decisive turning point, bringing a touch of warm hospitality to this place steeped in history.
From generation to generation, the Clauss family continues to watch over this jewel, from Charles to Alfred, thus perpetuating a family tradition where hospitality and dedication are at the heart of every action. Despite the vicissitudes of history, the Mill always rises from its ashes, testifying to the resilience and determination of those who are attached to it.
En 1981, Béatrice and Andrée Clauss, daughters of Charles, give a new vocation to this place, transforming inactivity into a haven of peace, a hotel with undeniable charm.
Since 2018, Carole and Régis Anthouard took the reins of the hotel, thus becoming the guardians of its precious heritage. It is with overflowing passion and unfailing dedication that they work every day to breathe new life into our dear Mill.
Together, they brought back all its glory to this historic residence, renovating every corner with care and attention to detail. From the restoration of buildings to the creation of new spaces, such as the Spa inaugurated in the summer 2021, Carole and Régis do everything they can to offer our valued guests unforgettable experiences during each stay. As true enthusiasts, they embody the family spirit and tradition of welcome that make our Mill famous.
